I've taken up sewing

Well it is hot, hot, hot here in Spokane, and I've been spending a lot of time lately in my basement sewing and computer room to avoid it.  What fun I've been having, though, and who knew I'd love sewing so much!?  Here is my first accomplishment for Baby Caleb's crib...  The bumpers.  I just think they turned out so cute.  I also made a bedskirt for it, in the same stripy fabric I used for the ties on the bumpers.  Can't wait to get the crib set up and see how it all works!

Fourth of July Fun

From Collages

First "ripe" Tomatoes

I was pretty excited to pick these, although I'm not completely convinced they were actually ripe.  They are an heirloom type, and I have many, of all different colors.  Not as good as bright red ones!  But good nonetheless.  We sliced them for grilled hamburgers, and they did the job just fine.  :)

Laurel and Doug Visit

What a blessing! Laurel and Doug came up to visit us and it was so great to see them both again and get some quality time. Tom and I have both been totally overwhelmed with household chores and they both just jumped in and did anything they could to help, including organizing for my kids and me, and making sure this mama stays cool. :) I'm sorry I didn't get more pics of the two of them... But I'll remember the weekend forever! Thanks you two and love you!

Our door shuts.

We've lived in this little house for 3 years and we can just open and shut our door now!  No fiddling, no pushing or kicking needed.  And it stays shut!!!  Tom and Tavis did a wonderful job of replacing that old doorknob.  Thanks guys!  Tavis actually did a good bit of it himself, and was very proud.  What a great kid.  :)
